Articulator: the back of the tongue

Point of Articulation: uvula

Manner: (Oral) Stop – A complete closure is made between the articulator and the point of articulation. Since the oral passage is blocked off, air pressure builds up in the back of the mouth. When the closure is stopped, an abrupt release occurs.

Voice: voiced – Vocal folds are close and vibrating.

Occurrence: Arabic (Yemeni), French (some speakers), Kwak’wala, Mongolian, Persian, Somali, Tabasaran, Tsakhur, !Xóõ.
